Firefox 3: Secure connection failed
Firefox has given us some hoops to jump through in its latest releases. When you connect to FarFinder or Webjimbo using Firefox 3 you'll see this page:
You need to:
- Click "Or you can add an exception..."
- Click "Add exception..."
- Click "Get certificate" (top right)
- Click "Confirm security exception" (bottom left)
You have to go through this process because FarSuite uses a self-signed security
certificate to protect your data. You can read more about this on the
security page.
All browsers display a warning about self-signed certificates - you'll see this when you connect with
Safari, for example - but this latest version of Firefox has chosen to take this further and give you
more hoops to jump through.
The nature of FarSuite makes using a self-signed certificate necessary. Because you are connecting to
your own computer, you shouldn't worry about it. However, if you see it when connecting to other sites, you should heed the warning!
But all I see is an alert!
This is a Firefox bug. Try the following:
- enter "about:config" into the location bar
- enter "disableIPv6" in the filter box
- double click to change the setting to true
- quit and reopen Firefox
